Product Description
An unemployed cop and lawyer become security guards but aren't very good at it.

Amazon.com
Perhaps Stripes and Caddyshack screenwriter Harold Ramis and Commando director Mark Lester were not an ideal collaborative team. But while this 1986 misfit comedy is something of a misfire, SCTV fans can take heart in watching John Candy and Eugene Levy triumph over weak material as mismatched security guards who stumble upon mob corruption. Candy, in particular, does wonders with a role that in lesser hands would have been a mere "fatty falls down" stereotype. He plays a cynical disgraced cop who takes Levy's cowardly former lawyer under his wing ("Stick with me, I'll keep you out of trouble," he reassures him). Like Ramis's character in Stripes, Levy rises to the occasion under fire, and even gets the girl--Meg Ryan in early ingénue mode, trying out the fetching grins and ingratiating smiles that would make her America's sweetheart three years later in When Harry Met Sally. --Donald Liebenson

I really enjoy this movie I think John Candy was Great and Eugene Levy and yes even Meg Ryan. Loggia wasn't bad either, one of my favorite parts is the chase, A CL9000 Cabover, A 'Vette among them. The story is good and Levy and Candy make a great team.

This is still a vry funny movie after all these years and doesn't rely on filth or making adults look foolish to make it work. Good lines, funny situations, and a good story. You will like it guaranteed!

I loved John Candy and will never forget this movie. I laughed hysterically at the scene with Eugene Levy taking on the mob at the union meeting and both of them guarding the dump and the guy comes up and asks them if they want a toothbrush - c'mon classic stuff. Candy was Johnny Le Roux for those of you who remember SCTV, and here partnering with Levy they hit a great piece of fun. That's all this picture is is fun. Don't look for laugh a minute, and don't lok for sitcom TV, it's not. It's just a movie with a story about two guys who find themselves in situations that result in comedic performances that are pretty good. C'mon when he tells the truck driver at the end that he needs to get somehwere to save a friend while the southern truck driver is in the middle of a traffic jam and the guys says to Candy "Well hop on in here slim!" is classic.

Funny movie. We enjoy watching this DVD. We are campers and on rainy evenings when we can't sit around the campfire, we get no TV reception in the campgrounds,
so we have a lot of DVD's and this one was a welcome addition to our collection.
