Amazon.com Review
"Like Maxim, but about Xbox!" was clearly the mandate given to Mike Salmon, former editor-in-chief of PC Accelerator and current editor-in-chief of The Official Xbox Magazine. He got it half right: this gamer lifestyle magazine has the locker-room feel of Maxim but lacks Maxim's intelligent, tongue-in-cheek style. The result is something that looks like it was written by high-school sophomores. For example, a bio of Kasumi, a character in the game Dead or Alive 3, reads "A redhead with a difference--she can take on all comers. And if DoA 3 has the "[breast] bounce on/off" option, she'll definitely have a lot of comers." On the plus side, the game reviews and previews are informative and mostly free of bull. --Mike Fehlauer

Good if you want to know what is coming out. Good if your the one that waits in line for Midnight Madness. Good if you're a hardcore gamer or interested in game design. Other than that, forget about it.

After renewing my husband's subscription to XBOX magazine, I went to their website to see if it was now shown as extended for 2 years.
Unfortunately, it was only extended for 22 months since they say that since there are 13 issues a year that 24 issues covers only 22 months.
Amazon is still showing 24 months and 24 issues so it is best to once again read the small print so that another large company doesn't try to change the terms of your contract with them. If like many magazines, it posted that it gave you a different than expected number of issues per year, then there would be no unpleasant surprise.
But XBOX magazine goes to some trouble on their website to tell you 24 ISSUES or 12 ISSUES and never mentions what time period that covers.

It is so rare in these times to get what you pay for and not have to settle for slightly less or not what you expect. So Microsoft and XBOX magazine go to right into the list of companies who sell you their advertising in the form of a magazine and then are too cheap to give you a full two years.

I bought a year subscription to this with the disc and my 12 year old reads it often. I asked him if the disc was any good and he said it had games he wouldn't have thought to look at which was fun for him to check out. I am constantly hearing: "Mom, hear this! Did you know........" :)

My boys are happy with this subscription and looking forward to the next one.
