The Story
In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the Video Game, Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.

Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different, but equally unavoidable adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates. And then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealously, but determined not to show her feelings. Yet as romance blossoms throughout Hogwarts, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

This game is cool. I bought it for my nephew so he would have a different game to play on my PS3 when he comes over, but I really enjoy it too! I just think it is amazing that the game incorporates the World of Harry Potter so completely. The only thing is some of the characters' eyes are creepy!

I've bought the harry potter games from the first year to the fifth year storyline and the one true thing I've loved about these games is the free roaming abilities in the game(Except for the awful fourth year which didn't allow the free roaming). The games follows the movies version mostly and tries to stay with the book but like the movie version some parts are cut out which is somewhat understandable as it would take more than one disk to finish the game. The one thing I'm amazed at is the graphic detail of the world of harry potter and the vastness of the areas you can explore, of course for players just exploring is not the only thing you want to do bu to do magic, play quiditch, and make potions just like Harry Potter and this game allows for you experience all that. The animation for the characters themselves is still pretty good but if you're expecting some truly great cgi animation like the Final Fantasy VII advent children movie don't expect that here there is only so much they can do with the area of animated detail of the game and still have the available space to leave a vast area of exploration in the game as well. The only small complaint I have is the save game feature, when you save the game you don't really start where you left off it seems but after the end of the chapter or cut-scene which is a little annoying but forgivable. So for all Harry Potter fans out there and for the price of this game I say here's another great choice for your game library...

I got this new on Amazon for $[...]. While it's certainly not the most fun or enthralling game I've played, it's entertaining. The plot loosely follows the movie, but the main story is fairly short. The graphics are below average by PS3 standards, although the sound is decent. The mini-quests (gathering crests, potions club, dueling club, and quiditch club) add replay value. The in-game duels are fun, but the multi-player duels are awkward. If you're a Harry Potter fan and for the price I paid, I recommend it.

As a start, this was the first of the Harry Potter games that I have purchased. The free roaming game style was fun and easy to interact with. As a whole, the story mode of the game is short and relatively easy to progress through. The Dueling Club and Potions sections make the game longer and are fun to do. Overall, the game is not challenging but I did not purchase the game to be challenged. It was fun adn simple to play through. I would reccomend this game to any casual gamer that enjoys Harry Potter but not to a serious gamer looking for any type of challenge.
