    bass without sound!!!!, 2010-07-18 Amazing!!!!!!!!
I discovered the buttkicker kit at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas last January and I fell in love with it immediately. The engineer who demonstrated it to me also informed that it was on sales via Amazon.
I came back home to Italy still imagining how to get one.
At my next trip to the US I logged onto Amazon few days before my arrival and ordered it. I had it ready waiting for me at the hotel when I checked in and I brought it back on my return flight.
I found that the US customs and security officers opened and inspected it, but put everything back in perfect place and added in a nice message apologising.
Now the product itself. It has been so easy to install it, just straight away. Being in Italy, I had to replace the power plug and the fuse, as mentioned in the instructions.
It has worked immediately. And perfectly well.
The manual explains that you may need to connect the wireless transmitter and receiver to each other, similar to pairing your BT headset to your mobile phone. But actually it has not been needed, the two parts of the kit connected immediately and automatically.
It is brilliant.
I have used the RCA subwoofer output signal. I have used the Y-shape cable - provided - to connect in parallel both the subwoofer and the buttkicker transmitter.
They both work perfectly in combination.
Actually, the buttkicker works so well that being on the sofa I do not hear the subwoofer anymore. The buttkicker dominates the scene!
As I had connected it to the subwoofer output of my home theater amplifier, the buttkicker gets activated only when the ".1" channel of the DVD contains subwoofer sound. Given the brilliant effect of the buttkicker, I wish it were more present, activated more frequently. From the manual I have read that it is possible to connect it in parallel to the front speakers to the power cable instead of the RCA of the subwoofer and in this case the buttkicker electronics would apply a low frequency filter, which you can control from the remote. Maybe I will try this setting.
Only one remark: when I switched off the buttkicker with the subwoofer still on, the subwoofer bumped quite hardly. I guess I should switch the subwoofer off first. Second remark, if I switch the subwoofer on while keeping the buttkicker transmitter connected with the Y cable but not powered, the subwoofer is mute. I guess the input impedence of the buttkicker transmitter grounds the input to the subwoofer when it's off.
Apart from this minor remark, the buttkicker is amazing and my friends want to buy one as well. But the Italian dealer is much more expensive compared to buying in locally in the USA. They will have to wait for my next trip or pay the extra 130Euro to the local distributor :-(
I strongly recommend it to anybody who wants to add that extra wow effect to their home theater set up!!!!
PS: please note that importing one single electronic equipment below 400Euro is legal and does not incur in any custom payment. I had checked it directly at the airport before actually ordering it.
Awesome, 2010-03-05 I've owned the smaller Buttkicker which was good, But this wireless Buttkicker is easy to hise simple to hook up, and puts the smaller Buttkicker to shame. Definit Buy!
Awesome! Puts you in the movie, 2010-05-20 Awesome, Makes you feel like you're in the movie.
Set up is very easy and directions are simple.
It took a few minutes to get used to the vibrations through the seat but once you are immersed in the movie it's like being there.
Definately worth the price.
The Biggest HT Upgrade I've Made!, 2010-03-03 I purchased(direct)and installed this kit a week before writing this. Wow is the word that comes to mind whenever I turn the unit on. I always figured that one of these types of products would make a big difference, but I never thought it would be this serious. The quality of the kit is very impressive, and the amp and transducer look and feel very high end. The furniture leg platform and the leg isolation bumpers are top notch as well. The instructions are VERY easy to follow (almost to the point of not needing them), and everything can be up and running in about 15-20min. I had no issues with the wireless syncing either. The instructions on that (at least now) are very straight forward. You really get a lot for (...).
I am using this kit under a couch in a smaller dedicated HT room with dual SVS PB10 subs. After everything was set and ready to go, I demoed the kit with the I-Robot and Star Trek blu-rays in movie mode. On the particular scene in ST when the Enterprise first goes to warp, I burst out laughing as soon as the LFE signal hit. I had to look around the room to make sure I hadn't gone with them. This little transducer was literally kicking my butt. It picked up on the infrasonic content that I didn't realize either movie had, and did so with incredible authority. I then demoed the transducer with some music. I tested it in music mode with the Audio's Audiophile Bass CD. I played Panther by Marcus Miller, and again...I was speechless. The reproduction of Marcus's guitar solo and Poogie Bell's drum thwacks seriously made it seem like I was front and center at a live event. I can definitely see how this would help band members when rehearsing/playing.
The signal timing was right on cue with the subwoofers and really blended seamlessly with the whole system. Even with the amps gain turned relatively high, I heard and felt no distortion from the transducer (even laying next to it on the floor). With the BKA300 amp/receiver incorporating a 300w rms Bash amp section, I don't suppose it would produce much. This kit, or a Buttkicker setup in general is a must have (in addition to your subwoofer/s)component for the Home Theater enthusiast. I am extremely surprised by just how much impact and realism it added to my system which is already a lot of fun. I can't wait to see my friends faces when I invite them over for a movie!
Good Addition to Home Theater, 2010-01-17 Provides "rumble" for my 3 person couch easily. Wireless connection took a few attempts to connect but it eventually does. Occasionally have to repair the transmitter and amp, especially if you unplug it. Remote is nice but not very powerful (my amp is behind my couch and the transmitter is up front by tv and it sometimes doesn't register - pointing the remote directly at the amp works though). The amp makes no noise and cannot be heard in a silent room. This is a much better system than the ButtKicker Gamer which i got a couple years ago. This is a nice addition to a sub woofer but does not replace one. Works well with both movies and games.
