Beautiful - simply beautiful (if worn correctly), 2010-05-09
I wanted to upgrade from my Sennheiser CX-300, which I enjoyed for the past year, but I knew that better sound was possible. I bought these after much research. I was willing to pay more than this and was considering the UE 700 and several Shure models, but several comparison reviews convinced me that these would be the best price/performance choice.
When they arrived and I tried them, I was initially disappointed. They sounded a bit better than the CX-300, but not $100 better, and they were lacking the bass of the CX-300.
Ok, I thought, live and learn. Later in the day I was looking through the reviews here and saw Jeffrey Chan's comment that "The SuperFi.5 sounds better for me when worn with the armature body up and cable over the ear". I tried that, and WOW! For me, this position was perfect for creating the proper seal.
Suddenly these sounded incredibly better than the CX-300. There was plenty of base (but not at all muddy). Instrumentals and vocals were crisp and clear, even at the lowest listening levels. Separation between instruments is distinct and spacious. The sound isolation is excellent.
Since then (about a week ago), I've been listening to music from several genres and several decades, hearing subtleties I had never heard before. It is like musically, everything old is new again.
Bottom line - if these don't sound gorgeous, they aren't correctly positioned or sealed in your ear.
great earphones, one warning, 2010-02-14
Look -- all the good stuff that all the other reviewers have shared is acurate (in my opinion). These have the best sound I have ever experienced on headphones ever. So why add another review (and not 5 stars)? I have to say they cable noise can be REALLY distracting. If the cable is not bouncing around (sitting or standing still on subway, train, whatever) you are fine, and the beautiful sound blocks out all distractions but for me even walking (forget running or the gym) produces such strong cable noise I have trouble listening.
Customer Service is important, 2010-05-04
If you're going to buy a $100 plus earphone, you want to know that a responsive customer service stands behind the product, and this was not the case with Logitech. I ordered a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 following a link from [...] 4/30/10. After 72 hours not receiving the confirmation email for my order, I called 5/4/10 to Logitech's customer service, the call was answered immediately, but the person basically stated that the ordered product sold out before my Credit Card cleared and they don't hold themselves responsible for unfilled orders. I asked to speak with a supervisor, who instead of beating up the same line, he claimed that Logitech does not hold themselves responsible for orders initiated from a "third party link", holding a Logitech account, a order #, have entered my personal, billing and shipping information into Logitech site, I was amazed and speechless by the absolute disingenuity that services Logitech products. Needless to say, the affront of such degrading treatment and the absolute disregard for customer satisfaction obliges the sharing my story as cautionary tale, it'Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Pro Noise Isolating Earphones (Black)s important to review the product and the customer service standing behind makes or breaks the deal.
These sound much better than lower priced, but it literally quit working in one ear less than 30 days after I received it., 2010-05-14
Good sound, but it quit working after only 30 days. The return is a bit of a circus.

Even if you take care of them, they break down. A very lousy product that should not be sold by Amazon.
